Web Design
Small business web design that earns the call
A website has a narrow window to do its job. Someone lands on it, decides in a few seconds whether you look like the real thing, and either keeps reading or goes back to the search results. Most small business sites lose people in that window for reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the business.
I build sites that survive that first look and then make the next step obvious. No template you have seen on four other companies in town, no stock photo of a handshake, and nothing on the page that is there because a plugin put it there.
What’s included
- Custom design — no recycled templates
- Copywriting support so the words work as hard as the design
- Mobile-first build (most of your visitors are on a phone)
- Contact forms, booking links, maps, reviews — whatever your business uses
- Speed and accessibility built in, not bolted on
- A walkthrough of the finished site with me before it goes live
The point: A site you are proud to send people to — one that gets them to pick up the phone.
Who this is for
Is web design what you need?
- Your site was built years ago and it shows
- You built it yourself and ran out of time or patience
- It looks fine on a laptop and falls apart on a phone
- You are getting traffic but almost nobody contacts you
- You have never had a website and want to start properly
And when it isn’t: If your current site is solid and just needs attention, I will tell you that and point you at SEO or a care plan instead. Rebuilding something that already works is a bad use of your money.
How the work runs
What happens, step by step
I work out what the site has to do
Before any design happens, I ask who is landing on it and what you need them to do. A site for a contractor chasing phone calls is not the same site as one for a studio taking online bookings.
You see the homepage before anything gets built
Design first, build second. You give feedback on the homepage design, and nothing gets coded until you like where it is going.
It gets built mobile-first, fast, and accessible
Most of your visitors are on a phone on a mediocre connection. That is the version I build first. Speed, keyboard access, and readable contrast are part of the build, not a later cleanup pass.
You launch owning everything
Domain, content, site — yours, in your name, on your accounts. Before it goes live I walk you through the whole thing so you know what every page is doing and why.
